Dependencies Conflicts

Um! So what is the solution to this problem, because after I upgraded to VIPM 2011 all my OpenG library packages (oglib) finally uploaded to version 4.0 (that's a whole other story).

But then if I click on the OpenG Toolkit package (v1.0.0.5) and select "Install" the Action Confirmation window appears which shows some packages have the auto-conflict Status (see 1st attachment).

If I press the Continue button then the "No packages in Library" message appears (see 2nd attachment).

If I select any one of the oglib packages (see 3rd attachment) and select Install Other Version, VIPM seems to just hang (cursor changes to hour glass). The status bar at the bottom says Ready ... but the Progress bar keeps on flickering on and off as if it's mass compiling or something.

Also the Install & Upgrade Package(s) and Uninstall Package(s) icons in the toolbar are flickering as well as if they are trying to get out to the internet.

Hi Chris

From your screenshot it looks like you are actually installing the OpenG Toolkit version 4.x?

The reason there are auto-conflicts, and that there are packages marked to be uninstalled, is that because they are not compatible with the OpenG 4.x release.

You can read about the features and design decisions etc... on this mini-blog on LAVA.

More specifically here it states:

...OpenG has now extended [from version 1.0.0.5 to 4.x] this [OpenG Toolkit] package and used it to allow a user to quickly configure their LabVIEW installation with OpenG 4.0.

This means that VIPM automatically installs the new packages and automatically removes the redundant ones, even handling the renamed oglib_buttons package - a clean way to handle things...

So, with respect to the first part of your post, I don't think we are reporting the same issue as my OP.

Hope that helps?

Cheers

-JG

This is normal, and as JG indicated, by design. So in the first screenshot, if you click continue, you will see that message as you indicated, but does it go through the install process?

I tried but could not reproduce any of the the problems you indicated on my system. There could be an underlying error that we are not seeing. Could you attach your error logs if you have them? See here for instructions on how to do this.

Ok, so you are also having connection issues as indicated in your other thread here.

I believe you are having install problems because of the network connection problem. Of course VIPM should not go crazy if you don't have a network. So this is a bug we need to address. However, even when I disconnected the network on my machine, I still couldn't reproduce your error.

In any case. I think we need to address the network connection issue first if we are to make headway.

The error log indicates that you have some package information, the basic list. But you don't have the individual package information files which are required. So somehow you are downloading some minimal data. This is strange.

Could you try removing the proxy information and trying to do a check for package updates again?

Can you access the LabVIEW Tools Network View?

Yes I can access the Tools Network View (and it looks really nice).

I changed my Network Settings to "Direct Connection" and clicked on the "Check All Package Repositories" button, but the system timed out and popped up the Error Message, "There was an error checking the network for new packages..."

I've attached the error log file for today.

I should add that we are running Trend Micro OfficeScan and I've read in the forums that this might cause a problem.

When I click on the Check for Available packages icon, VIPM goes to the following sites:

http://www.jkisoft.com/packages

http://ftp.ni.com/evaluation/labview/lvtn/vipm

http://download.ni.com/evaluation/labview/lvtn/vipm

Now If I type these addresses into IE8 I can reach the bottom two sites, but when I try the jkisoft site it says:

I assume this is where the oglib packages are kept is that right?

If so I'll get our IT Dept. to open up the firewall for this website and see if that works.

Actually, no. The OpenG package download comes from various servers around the world since they are hosted on mirror sites. They are managed by SourceForge. I'm working on creating a debug tool to send you which will help us solve this issue. I'll contact you via Personal Message on the forums.
