JKI Posted July 17, 2006 Report Share Posted July 17, 2006 A package is the term used to describe the file that VIPM downloads to your machine. It contains all of the necessary components wrapped together along with the actual tool (VI’s, code, etc.) which is to be installed. The package contains internal information related to its destination, compatible LabVIEW versions etc. In order to use the contents of a package it must first be installed. When a package is installed it will extract the contents to the appropriate location on your machine. Most of the time, the package will simply place VI’s inside your LabVIEW installation. The exact location depends on how the package provider configured the package. For more information on a specific package, please contact the package vendor.
