What's New in VIPM 2.0.2

VIPM 2.0.2 is bugfix release that builds upon VIPM 2.0.1. All VIPM 2.x users should upgrade.

New and Changed Features
  • Default Namespace Changed - In the VI Package Builder, the default Namespace uses underscores in place of space characters in Organization and VI Package Name. If you want to use the old convention, you will need to reset it to the old value after opening the VI Package settings in VIPM -- this is because the Namespace value was not saved in the .vipb file, when the default value was used. This has been fixed in version 2.0.2 (see issue 6006) as Namespace is now written to the .vipb, even if the default value is used.
  • VI Packages built in VIPM 2.0.2 are not compatible with VIPM 2.0 or VIPM 2.0.1 - This is related to issue 5929, where VIP files created in other time zones were causing validation problems.
Resolved Issues
  • 5929: Cannot use VIP files created in a different time zone
fixed - VIP files created in other time zones now work
  • 5948: Advanced Build Settings file paths browse buttons start paths should open at current value location
fixed - now uses the current value as the browse button's start path
  • 5938: Custom Installation Location file browse buttons should be set to "existing folder"
fixed - now uses the current value as the browse button's start path
  • 5946: Editing VI Package icon and canceling can cause build settings to not be saved
fixed - canceling the VI Package Icon editor no longer resets the unsaved changes state.
  • 5954, 5961: VIs stored inside LLB files show missing icons in the Palette Editor
fixed - VIs inside LLB files now show their icons in the Palette Editor after reload, as expected
  • 5955: VIPC dependency resolution is using latest package versions instead of installed versions
fixed - dependency resolution uses installed packages (if installed), rather than latest package version available.
  • 5956: VIPB "Need to be saved" flag (dirty bit) is being set by Advanced Settings Dialog when it shouldn't
fixed - now only sets unsaved changes state when there are actual changes in the Advanced Settings Dialog.
  • 5958: Deleting an item from disk will result in a named blank palette item next time someone work on the project
fixed - VIPM now finds moved VIs and warns when VIs cannot be found.
  • 5959: Dependency resolution should use installed packages rather than latest package
fixed - dependency resolution uses installed packages (if installed), rather than latest package version available.
  • 5960: Right-click>>Download package from VIPM package list hangs after download completes
fixed - no longer hangs after download completes
  • 6001: Scan project can fail when installed packages are missing files
fixed - project scanning is now more robust and tolerant of packages with installed files that are missing
  • 6002: Scanning project fails when project calls .Net assemblies in Global Assembly Cache (GAC)
fixed - can now successfully scan projects that call .Net assemblies in the GAC
  • 6006: Namespace is not written to .vipb file when default value is used
fixed - Namespace is now always written to .vipb files
Release Date: October 7th, 2008
