Package release stage, Yes please

Recommended Posts

Hi,

we had a discussion during the VIPM beta (over at ni.com) regarding build numbers.

After a few months of using the build numbers I really like it, but..

We would really need the additional "Release stage" Jim proposed.

The problem is that when we build a package of a SW tagged as 2.0.0p05 (pre-release of v2.0.0), the VI package version does not match.

Do you have any news regarding this feature?

Hi Jonas,

I'm happy to hear that you're liking the package build numbering scheme used by VIPM.

We don't have anything, yet, to report on the "release stage" idea. But, we're definitely listening.

We do have an internal tracking number for this feature request:

  • Case 9968: Add a "Release Stage" field to VI Package version information

Thanks for reminding us and pushing us to work on ideas you need. We really appreciate your feedback.

-Jim
